Pupils in S4-S6 were given an insight into the engineering industry when consultancy firm AECOM visited the school last Thursday.
The pupils, who all have expressed an interest in Engineering learnt about the company and its previous projects such as designing buildings for the 2016 Rio Olympics and the One World Trade Centre in America.
After the presentation which gave information on the roles of engineers, planners and surveyors, the pupils were split into three groups and took part in a number of workshops.
Two groups were planning fictional building sites around Glasgow and another group was involved in planning the beams in a sports stadium. Using formulas and problem solving skills they were able to work out which beams were appropriate and which weren’t.
