Members of the Senior Choir took part in a choral workshop and performance of Haydn’s Nelson Mass at the City Halls on Sunday 30 October.
The event, organised by Bearsden Burgh Choir and its music director Andrew Nunn, involved ten schools from the Glasgow area, singers from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) Junior School, with soloists and orchestra also from the RCS.
After a mass warm up session in the Old Fruitmarket, the Hutchie pupils took part in the full rehearsal and complete performance in front of a capacity audience.
“It was a great experience for them to work with other schools and experience the thrill of singing such a major work with orchestra and soloists,” said Ken Walton, Hutchie’s Director of Music Performance. “We are extremely grateful to Bearsden Burgh Choir for inviting us to participate.”
The aim of the project is to preserve and encourage choral singing in schools.
