Economists' rate decision

A team of Advanced Higher Economists travelled to Edinburgh last week to deliver a 15-minute presentation on interest rates to banking chiefs.

Ganesh Gnanapandithan, Euan Johnston, Isabel Ralphs and Joshua Jackson prepared and delivered a 15-minute presentation to representatives from the Bank of England justifying their decision on whether interest rates should be changed. They were assisted by researchers Jack Lyon and Rory Dickson and the team decided to maintain rates at 0.25%.

The pupils, who were taking part in the Bank of England Target 2.0 Interest Rate Challenge at the Hilton hotel in Edinburgh, competed against other schools from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee.
