The Hutchesons’ Grammar School Association hosted a very successful dinner for parents and 6th year pupils at the Hilton Grosvenor Hotel earlier this month.
The association began planning the social event at the start of the academic year and their organisational skills and hard work paid off – everyone had a great time. Many of the guests have already put their names down for next year’s dinner.
Guests enjoyed a fine-dining experience followed by entertainment from current and former pupils.
They were piped into the dinner by Hector Ritchie C2015 but the undoubted highlight of the evening for most of the guests was the music provided by Alexander Maxwell, Rachel MacKenzie, Ross Hadden and Michael Haine.
Gentle, unobtrusive jazz music between courses was followed by a lively set which in the absence of a dance floor precipitated spontaneous occupation of one corner of the room by those inspired to take the floor.
S6’s Natasha Khan had printed tickets with the names of all the diners which were drawn in a free raffle for which a range of prizes had been generously donated by businesses and individuals.
Testament to the success of the evening was the number of inquiries from the company about the prospect of a similar event next year. Parents of children in sixth year even asked if they would be allowed to attend next year.
Roll on next year.
