Hutchesons’ pupils performed well in the pool yesterday winning an impressive 13 medals.
The pupils were taking part in the Glasgow Schools Primary Swimming Finals held at Whitehill Swimming pool and won one gold, three silver and nine bronze medals.
In the 10yrs and under category, Anna Dickson had a very successful afternoon, she won the Alistair Short Trophy in the 25m Breaststroke and she won a silver medal in the 25m Freestyle. In the same race Kiri Dalkin won the bronze medal. Andie Gillespie qualified for the 25m Backstroke final where she also won the bronze medal.
In the 11yrs and under category, Amy MacLeod recovered from a disappointing start to finish 2nd in the 25m Breaststroke. Emma Gilmour was one of three Hutchie swimmers in the 25m Backstroke and she did very well to win the bronze medal. There was some brotherly rivalry in the boys 25m Breaststroke race with both Guy and Max Pelosi racing. Well done to Max who won the bronze medal.
In the 12yrs and over category Jamie Green started the Hutchie medal haul in the very first race winning a bronze medal in the 25m Butterfly. He also qualified for the 50m Breaststroke and raced against two other Hutchie boys, this time he was beaten by Ewan McCarthy who won the bronze medal. Ewan also won a silver medal in the 50m backstroke.
The relay teams were also successful. The Primary 5 girls swam very well and were only just pipped into second place. The boys finished 5th. Congratulations to the girls and boys in the P6 relay teams who both won bronze medals. In the Primary 7 events the girls finished 5th and the boys swam in a very exciting race and did very well to win the bronze medal.
