The winners of the 2016 S1-S3 Photography competition were announced by the Rector yesterday – and this year’s entries were very impressive
Pupils could submit photographs in two categories – “My Environment” and “Close Up” and they really rose to the challenge.
There were some fantastic images of flowers, insects, birds, a monkey, a teddy bear, fireworks, sunsets, waterfalls, the Northern Lights and even a panda on display
A close-up of a duck in a pond by S2's Natasha Dick won “Outstanding Image”. Dr Greig was particularly impressed with the detail of the feathers and the reflections in the water.
Katya Johnson, S2, and Natasha also won the “My Environment” category – Katy’s photo was a teddy bear resting on a staircase while Natasha’s image was of a dog’s toy at the beach.
The winners of the “Close Up” category were Calum Murray and Adam Shafaatulla, both S1. Calum’s photo was of a Panda while Adam’s was of condensation on the top of a large pressure cooker.
All the entries are on display outside the Dining Room at the Boleyn Road foyer until June 23rd.
Well done to all those who entered – the standard this year was very impressive.
