Members of the S6 Higher Psychology class took a trip to St Andrews at the end of last term to visit the prestigious Psychology Department at St Andrews University.
Our pupils attended a lecture by top researcher professor Stephen Reicher, together with hundreds of 1st year undergraduates. Our sixth year classes have been studying Prof Reicher's work and they got the chance to hear about his latest experiments into group behaviour, which have shown how positive or harmful actions can depend on whether you see yourself as part of the same overall social group as other people.
We were then shown round the department and had the opportunity to ask questions to staff about the subject and about student life.
Overall it was a great opportunity to see what day-to-day life is like as a university undergraduate - and we also bumped into two former pupils who are now in their junior honours year.
