The Mark Scott Leadership for Life Award is named in honour of Glssgow schoolboy, Mark Scott, who was the victim of a tragic sectarian murder after an Old Firm football match. Following his death, Mark's family set up the Award, a charity aimed at breaking down sectarian barriers and bringing young people together.
Each year, through the Mark Scott Leadership for Life, seven pupils from Hutchesons’ team up with seven from Holyrood RC High School in nearby Crosshill, to create several community projects. In so doing the pupils leran to work together and discover the value of teamwork. Younger pupils from both schools also visit each other too as part of an ongoing drive to challenge stereotypes.
Today some pupils from Hutchie went to Holyrood School as part of the Mark Scott Foundation. ..We took part in many activities and we socialised with them.. I enjoyed my day out and found it very interesting. I also made some new ones too.
