Volunteering

Committed to serve our local area, we are forging links with local voluntary organisations.

Adopting the motto, "think global, act local" we are keen to support specific projects and, at the same time, help pupils gain valuable experience and skills. Many pupils take part in community service through Duke of Edinburgh, helping with disabled scouts, for example or working with children in nurseries. Some pupils have started visiting hospitals as part of the Greater Glasgow Volunteer Programme.

We are delighted to have established a partnership with residential care homes at Lambshill Court and Sherbrooke Lodge, co-managed by successful businesswoman Arti Poddar (2???); recently two of our senior pipers charmed the ladies at Lambshill Court's 12th birthday celebrations.

Our residents loved hearing your pipers; we look forward to developing a partnership with you.

We are also working with the youth group YCSA and participating in the City of Glasgow's Youth Strategy group.

Commissioned by Battlefield Community Council, S2 pupils were invited to produce a podcast version of the Langside heritage trail. Our EcoSchools committee will team up with the Community Council and also the Hidden Gardens at the Tramway to consider ways in which pupils can help improve the environment of our local area through clear ups, restoration work and tree planting.

The S2 English class researched, scripted and produced a podcast for me and the local Community Council, completely from scratch.
