Following a highly successful expedition to Zambia and Malawi in summer 2008, Hutchesons' are launching another World Challenge programme culminating in an expedition to Borneo in summer 2010.
Pupils in S4 and S5 will be invited to join the new World Challenge team, presenting them with the opportunity to take part in a variety of fund-raising activities, outdoor training and, of course, an adventure in Malaysian Borneo!
From World Challenge's website: "Education through experience is the heart of our philosophy, and our expeditions offer the experience of a lifetime. Packed with physical challenges and eye-opening cultural exchanges in some of the world's most beautiful countries, these exhilarating expeditions are also journeys of self discovery that benefit young people from all backgrounds."
Hutchesons' is organising a series of launch events to outline the World Challenge programme to pupils and parents, including an assembly presented by Alasdair Horning, World Challenge Deputy Regional Manager. Megan Hall [S6] will also speak about her experiences during the build-up and expedition to Zambia and Malawi. Mr Horning will also speak to parents about all that is involved in the World Challenge experience and how pupils can become involved. This will be followed by a meeting for those who want to join the team.
Katie Fox, a pupil who took part in the 2008 World Challenge expedition, is also a keen photographer (see left).
