Eco Code
Hutchesons' held a school competition to choose an Eco Code for the Primary School. The winning song was created by P7L during the 2006–2007 session. The song is sung to the tune of 500 miles by The Proclaimers' .
Each verse is sung by a soloist then repeated by all pupils and staff.
We recorded ourselves singing the song and sent this to The Proclaimers who, so impressed by our version, personally waived their copyright.

INTRO
1. When I wake up
Well I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the one
Who thinks about our world
2. When I get up
Well I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the one
Who knows what I can do
Chorus:
And I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to keep our forests nice and green
And to see our land look bright and clean
3.When I go out
Well I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the one
Who turns off all the lights
4.When I’m out there
Well I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the one
Reusing plastic bags
Chorus:
And I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to keep our forests nice and green
And to see our land look bright and clean
So don’t pollute it
Save the world
Don’t pollute it
Save the world
We’ve got to think of all the things we stand to lose X 2
INTRO
5.In the playground
Well I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the one
Who uses the green bins
6.When I go home
Well I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the one
Who recycles and returns
I’m gonna be the one
Who recycles and returns (2nd time only)
Chorus:
And I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
You’ve got to help me keep this world alive
We have to save the environment.
So don’t pollute it
Save the world
Don’t pollute it
Save the world
We’ve got to think of all the things we stand to lose X 4
And I would save 500 miles
And I would save 500 more
You’ve got to help me keep this world alive
We have to save the environment.
