Eco Schools Report

by Emma Ross and Lucy Kenwell

Since the beginning of this school year, the Eco Schools Committee has been very busy. We have had a number of meetings in which we discussed ideas to make the school and this area a greener place.  Lucy and Emma

Mrs Smart (head of the Eco Schools) got in touch with Cuthbertson Street School, the school across the road from us, and invited their Eco School members to our school as the committee were very interested in finding out about how to get the Eco Schools bronze award. Emma Ross (Secretary) and Lucy Kenwell (Chairperson) asked some members of our committee to prepare questions and ask them to the pupils of Cuthbertson Street. We found out that they have a rag bag bin which recycles clothes. We thought this was a very good idea, and we would like to start one ourselves. We also hope to work with them on one of the Eco School topics, like transport. We all enjoyed the meeting and hope to do it again soon.

This year the Eco Schools Committee are trying to earn the Green Award, which we can put up beside our bronze and silver awards. We are very proud of them and the Green Award will be one of the main things to focus on this year.
