Home Economics
Ostensibly one of the technological subjects offered within the school, Home Economics also sits well with both Arts and Sciences, borrowing from and contributing to both sets of disciplines.
Drawing on Health Education, Geography, History, Economics and Science, the department aims to offer enjoyment and skills for life in either food or fabrics, and knowledge that will be of great benefit in the years to come. Based in specialist and well-equipped classrooms in the main building at Beaton Road, courses from S3 onwards provide a choice of a practical food- or fabric-based content, promoting knowledge and developing manual dexterity.
