Every year Hutchesons' has more than 100 teacher-led trips and tours, about a quarter of which are residential. Some will be subject-specific: a history field trip to the WW1 battlefields or the Normandy beaches, a classics trip to Hadrian's Wall or Rome, a modern studies visit to the European parliament in Brussels, a performing arts trip to Greece, a music tour to the German Rhineland.
Some will be sporting tours: a Rugby tour to Ireland or South Africa, a Hockey tour to Spain or Australia. Some will be adventurous: an expedition to Honduras or ski trip to the USA. Some will be cultural: groups have recently visited China, Russia and India.
Hutchesonians like to challenge themselves and others, and successfully represent the school in many sports and other activities, at the local, national and international level. Pupils are also encouraged to maintain their other interests outside of school, and these add to the richness and diversity of the whole community.
Each year, large numbers of pupils reach the Silver and Gold levels of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award by planning and fulfilling the criteria in the skills, physical education, service and expedition sections. We offer water-borne kayak and canoe expeditions, as well as mountain biking, traditional walking and sailing through the Ocean Youth Trust.
