Kart Club gets off to Flying Start!

karting at Hutchesons'After Hutchesons' won the British Schools Karting Championship in 2010 - the first Scottish school to win the award - S6 pupils David Wagner and Kerr McEwen formed a kart club for secondary pupils. A total of 59 pupils took part in some exciting racing at a taster event, held at Scotkart to gauge the amount of interest in the club. As a result, two school championships will be held, for pupils in S1 and those in S2 to S5. The championship event has provided some competitive racing for all the pupils and was very entertaining to watch from the sidelines. After the first Round, results are as follows:

S1
1st Louis Lott, 2nd Drew Campbell, 3rd James Nairn

S2 - S5
1st  Charles Wagner, 2nd Jack Mitchell, 3rd Jamie Kyle

A big thank you to Scotkart for hosting both events so far. For more information, please visit www.hgskarting.co.uk or send an email to mail@hgskarting.co.uk.

David Wagner - Pembrey

David Wagner [S6] started kart racing when he was 5 years old; he has won many championships. In only his 6th race in a single-seater racing car, he mastered the damp conditions at Pembrey Race Circuit to win the final race of the Renault BARC Winter Series and secure runner-up position in the Championship.

He is now one of the most exciting racing prospects Scotland has had for many years and has been selected by the UK governing body of motor sport, the Motor Sports Association, for the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence.

David will race in the 2011 Formula Renault Championship and hopes to progress through Formula 3 and GP2 to Formula 1.
