Sarra Levinson and Josh Lewis, S4 pupils at Hutchesons' and members of the school's j8 group, were finalists in a national competition run by the Global Campaign For Education.
They were among the four short-listed pairs in the final in the headquarters of the NUT building in London on 1 December, competing to become the Young Global Education Ambassadors for 2011, an award which would have required them to speak at conferences all over the UK on the importance of universal education. It would also have taken in a visit to Bolivia to research the reasons why some children there do not go to school.
Their excellent presentation, culminating in a moving video, was not quite good enough to win the award but impressed the judges to the extent that they intend to use Sarra and Josh in some capacity during the next twelve months.
