'Now is the winter of our discontent, made glorious summer ...'

Despite taking liberties with 'The Bard', a welcome respite from the harsh weather conditions that have seen the Rugby and Hockey teams lie dormant since 20 November looks set to let us get into some competitive action at last this weekend, with an extremely busy fixture card!

Indoor Hockey Team JAN2011The Hockey Girls are planning to take on George Heriots School in 13 fixtures home and away, but the highlight of the weekend will be the 1st XI taking part in the Scottish Indoor finals in Perth on Saturday.  The talented squad have qualified for the six-team final as west district champions and join the other district champions for a gruelling schedule that sees two pools playing off for semi-final spots and the final being contested in the Bells Indoor Sports Arena later in the afternoon.  Good luck to the Girls' in trying to add the indoor title to the outdoor version achieved in March this year!

The Boys' Hockey teams are also in action in the Scottish Cup this weekend, with the Under 18s facing Edinburgh Academy at their new 'home' venue of Mearns Castle Primary School Astroturf pitch. After a 7-0 victory over the opposition last term, confidence is high.

1st XV v George Watson's 2 Oct 2010The Rugby teams have a block of fixtures against Stewarts Melville College from Edinburgh alongside the Final Group Stage matches of the Scottish Schools Cup for both the Under 18 and Under 16 squads.

The Under 18s travel to North Berwick for a vital match which will see the winners qualify for the quarter finals. Victory will pitch the winners against last season's champions Edinburgh Academy. The Under 16s, meanwhile, want to secure top spot in their group with a victory over Dunbar Grammar School at Auldhouse (k.o. 10.30am).  This would see the team taking on Edinburgh Academy or Marr College in the quarter Final.
