Hutchie Girls win High School Invitation Tournament
Six secondary pupils were selected to play in the High School of Glasgow Invitation Tennis Tournament at Anniesland on 14 May. Eight teams were competing for the Laurel Park Trophy.
In the U13 age group, S1 players Catriona Bruce and Rachel Wood lost only one game and received the silver medal. The U15 pairing of Rosa McMillan [S3] and Kirsty Forgie [S3] won all their games and were awarded the gold medal.
Likewise, the Over 15 couple comprising Captain Heather Lang [S6] and Paige Denholm [S4] won all their matches. When all the games were tallied, Hutchesons' won the trophy by a clear margin of 18 games.
It is the first time Hutchesons' has won this trophy since 1997. Congratulations to all six girls on this excellent achievement!
In other tennis news, both the girls' and boys' tennis teams have won through to the quarter final round of the Scottish Schools Cup, beating Jordanhill and Glasgow Academy respectively.
