Charity award success for Hutchesons’

Hutchesons' Grammar School has been announced as the national winner of the 2011 Stephenson Award for Lifelong Learning.

Louise Ward Hunter, Strategic Director of Children's Services revealed that the committee was unanimous in their selection and commented that:

"Staff and students have given their time and experience generously to help develop long lasting links with our local projects."

The partnership developed in response to the school's commitment to address the needs of young people and their families, both nationally and locally, and to create a relationship that would deliver benefits beyond simply raising funds.

Depute Rector Jim McDougall was delighted by the news, saying:

"This award reflects well on the commitment and enthusiasm all the staff, pupils and parents involved. Our pupils have thoroughly enjoyed their experience of working with the charity, which will in turn be of great benefit to their own social development and awareness."

The School will be presented with the award at the Thistle Hotel Glasgow on the 6th of October.
