Mrs Waugh’s class (P5W) have been undertaking a rather unusual homework challenge, to improve their spelling by using different objects to form words.
The striking results should serve as visual memory aids and the process represents a fun way to reinforce classroom teaching. Here we share some of the imaginative work of Kathryn Barr (P5) who made words from flour, jewellery, building blocks, pens and game pieces.
The homework task was then followed with a class contest, in which a small reward was won by being able to spell ‘colourful’ and ‘chocolate’.
