Life in pictures at Talking points

Street Level 2

Lara Gilmour and Lawrie Carlaw of S6 continue reporting on the current Talking Points session:

Street LevelOn Friday 7 October S6 were treated to a fascinating talk by Iseult Timmermans, a photography graduate from Glasgow School of Art and the Coordinator of the Red Road Community Studio in North Glasgow.

Iseult, pictured right, works for Street Level Photoworks, an arts based organisation which provides artists and the public with the opportunity to produce and participate in photographic and lens based media.

Our creative interest was sparked as we were shown a series of captivating images from past, present and upcoming exhibitions at the studio. We even gained an insight into the history of our city as she explained her involvement in the award- winning  outreach project 'Multi-Story' which is an arts initiative which aims to discover the history of residents of the notorious high-rise flats and also organises creative and collaborative activities for local residents.

The work included the conversion of one of the flats into a magical black and white photography studio and camera obscura - the effects of which were simply stunning. I am sure that everyone left the talk feeling inspired and enlightened by Iseult's truly innovative work and will have a fresh outlook on photography and the positive impact it can have on the community.

Street Level Photoworks is located in The Trongate 103.
