Lest we forget

Remembrance Day Wreath by Mrs Tooth

Hutchesons’ marked the Armistice today with a morning Remembrance Day Service for S4 - S6 year pupils and esteemed guests including, David Dobson - Chairman of Governors at Hutchesons' Educational Trust, Douglas Boyd - Lord Dean of Guild, The Merchants House of Glasgow and John R Steele - Deacon Convenor, The Trades House of Glasgow.

The Head Boy and Girl, James Malcolm and Kate Cameron, showed great dignity as they recognised the names of many fellow Hutchesonians who lost their lives during the devastating conflict of the first World War, and Revd David Black from our board of Governors gave a moving prayer on an end to war for all the nations and faiths of the world.

The service came to a poignant conclusion as Rector Dr Greig read aloud from the Ode to Remembrance before leading a silent and thoughtful procession to the War memorial.

They shall grow not old as we who are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.
