At the start of November the school held ‘Open Mornings’ to welcome new parents and families and give visitors a taste of what life is really like at Hutchesons’.
The Kingarth Street Open Morning (Wednesday 2 November) gave a lively insight into the normal school day, which proved especially valuable for the parents of young children contemplating that first day at primary. Guests had the chance to watch and interact with classes and were given a fantastic tour by the current P7.
A diverse range of lessons were underway including live math challenges, music tuition, writing practice and a demonstration of life saving skills from the Heartstart team.
On the following Saturday visitors to Beaton Road enjoyed a packed morning of activities with S1 acting as guides. The comprehensive route showcased the range of subjects and co-curricular opportunities at Hutchesons’. The tour included musical recitals and performances, computing displays, home economics, languages in action, explosive science experiments, hands on biology exploration and much more.
Highlights from the day included Clubs and Societies fair in the dining room, an open rehearsal for the S1/S2 show in the Assembly Hall and several live matches on the school pitches.
Pupils of all ages once again proved to be a great credit to the school at both events, with many visitors commenting on their enthusiasm and knowledge.
Both mornings were a great success with almost 600 visitors passing through the school gates and our sincere thanks must go to all those who generously gave their time and energy to support the school.
