Humza Yousaf a former pupil of the school and MSP for Glasgow visited Hutchesons’ yesterday.
In a presentation to current S5 Modern Studies pupils, he reflected on his time at Hutchesons' and explained how he became inspired to become politically active while studying South Africa as part of his own Higher Modern Studies course.
In a lively question and answer session the MSP responded to some excellent questions posed by members of the Fifth Year on various topics including independence, the proposed sectarian legislation and alcohol minimum pricing.
Pupils found his talk very inspirational and were encouraged to achieve their own personal goals after hearing about his life. Mr Yousaf finished the talk by inviting pupils to find out about more about political affairs and debate via Twitter.
