Bin it to win it!

Santa BinThis year an unusual Eco-Santa is paying a seasonal visit to Beaton Road to give a lucky pupil a special present. Situated by the S1 base this Santa is here due to the imagination and hard work of the S1-S3 Eco Committee, who have been thinking of novel ways to encourage plastic recycling and raise waste awareness at the school.

Santa stands by a specially decorated bin and if a pupil recycles a bottle with their name on it, they may get a chance to download a few festive songs of their own by winning a £25 itunes voucher.

Santa 2The idea has proved a great success and the bin is almost full already. The winner will be announced before the end of term and the Eco Committee have plans for more fun bins throughout the year, including a special valentine themed one in February.

The scheme is part of a wider environmental commitment at Hutchesons’ and will contribute to the goal of achieving Green Flag Eco Status.
