Joy of first Les Misérables rehearsal

Senior students returned to Hutchesons' early from study leave to take part in the first rehearsal for the summer school production of Les Misérables.

Les Misérables rehearsal 7

More than 50 students from S4, S5 and S6 were keen to get their first taste of the new Drama building.

They were introduced to the project by Head of Drama Mrs. Alderson and Drama staff members, Ms. Meek and Miss Sobolewska along with musical director, Mr. Walton.

Mrs. Alderson told the cast the show will be an ambitious project, but she felt sure they were up to the challenge.

The day started with students being  put through their paces by the choreographer.

This enabled them to get to know one another as a cast, and was a great warm-up and opportunity to focus on the work ahead.

The rest of the day was spent in workshops looking at the vocal score for the chorus numbers, and also some of the principal roles, in preparation for audition.
