A taste of New Zealand

On Wednesday 25 January the School was delighted to play host to former pupil Christine Kernohan née Nicol (C1967), owner of Gladstone Wines, presenting a lively evening of conversation and the chance to sample her distinctive, high quality wine.

Wine tasting ChristineChristine explained the distinctive colours, tastes and aromas of her selection of wines, and discussed her journey from the Hutchie gates to becoming one of the top women wine makers in New Zealand. She shared her life in pictures and recounted many milestones - discovering the vineyard, winning a prestigious Gold award in her first year, the learning process from novice to expert and the challenge of developing markets for her brand in the current climate.

There were pleasant stops along the way to sample the wines, which reflected her growing expertise in the industry, and to choose many favourites from amongst them.
