Dr Saket Priyadarshi, General Practitioner, addressed thirty pupils who have demonstrated an interest in pursuing a medical career.

His lecture was entitled 'From Malaria to Methadone' and he spoke, in detail, about his life as a practitioner in South Africa in the 1990s and his more recent work as a GP in the East end of Glasgow.
Dr Priyadarshi gave the assembled group a real insight into his daily working life.
He felt that it was particularly important that students contemplating medicine, as a career, understood the importance of treating the individual patient whilst understanding the societal forces which are at work.
He also stressed that learning and training is a life-long activity for doctors and reflecting on current research and patient experience is a vital component of the day to day role.
The second lecture of the series is planned for 21st March.
