Scientists Won 'Hands Down'!

Three Hutchesons' pupils won first place in the Scottish CREST awards at Dundee University, with a research project on the antibacterial properties of handwashes.

Chenfan Xu, along with brothers Stephen and Michael Rose, presented a Gold level project on the antibacterial properties of handwashes. Highly praised by the expert panel of judges, the research project was awarded first place overall.

John Di Mambro, the Biology teacher in charge of CREST, is delighted. "Hutchesons' has a long history of participating and doing well with CREST projects. Pupils give up a great deal of their free time to undertake their research."

The three boys will represent Scotland in the British BA CREST Final in London in March 2009.
