For the last few years, she has been a regular visitor to Hutchesons’, where she is an enthusiastic participant in the S6 ‘Question Time’ and also meets with S3 Modern Studies pupils, who are eager to pose a wide range of questions. She visited in December and answered the following questions from S3 pupils, among many others:

Nicola Sturgeon: The Greens!
What is your opinion of independent schools?
Nicola Sturgeon said that Hutchesons’ is an excellent school and that she wished more schools were like it. During the recent debate on the charitable status of independent schools, she was convinced that the vast majority of them are deserving of the status.
If Scotland became independent, would we gain automatic entry to the EU?
Nicola Sturgeon: All legal opinion suggests that Scotland would gain automatic entry. This would give Scotland a bigger say in decisions taken in the EU.
