Hutchesons' pupils taking A Level Government & Political Studies visited the Scottish Parliament in March, having been invited by Ken McIntosh, Labour MSP for Eastwood since 1999. Their tour of the controversial, but award-winning, building was followed by First Ministers' Questions in the debating chamber and a subsequent informative talk and question-and-answer session. Questions asked by Hutchie pupils included McConnell's views on the Scottish Parliament elections in May ('if he thought he would win'!), the advantages of the AMS voting system and the very recent developments on Reform of the House of Lords. Pupils were also given the chance to sit in the seats of MSPs in the debating chamber, with Joelle Gerber (above) snagging the First Minister's seat!
