Hutchesons Celebrates National Biodiversity Week in its own Grounds

Over the last few months several staff have been developing a conservation area in the grounds of Hutchesons' at Beaton Road. One of the objectives is to contribute to the biodiversity of the local area and to encourage pupils to take an interest in wildlife and conservation. National  Biodiversity Week runs from 17 to 25 May, and staff would like to put in the kind of plants that are especially attractive to birds, bees and butterflies. We would be most grateful for donations of any of the following plants:

Buddleia, Marjoram, Michaelmas daisys, Bluebells (or any other bulbs) Forget-me-not, Honeysuckle, Mallow, Teasel, Lupins ,  Foxgloves, Cow Parsley and Crocosmia/Mountbretia.

If you are are out gardening and splitting perennials or clumps of bulbs, we would love to take any surplus- there is no plant we won't consider, except mint!

Plants or bulbs may be brought in to Mr McDougall's office any morning that is convenient, or if you prefer, you can come along on a Thursday afternoon, from 2.30pm and join the gardening team.
