Ian's Commitment Honoured with National Award

Ian Scott 2008 Newspaper Deliver of the Year

Ian Scott, a fifth-year pupil at Hutchesons', has been honoured with the 2008 News Deliverer of the Year Award. After being short-listed, he was presented with the award at a ceremony in London on 22 October for his outstanding service, dedication and considerable bravery.

Ian led an elderly couple to safety from their blazing house in Muirend in September last year. He finished his round and only admitted what had happened after he realised his iPod earphones had melted!

Ian and fellow deliverer Aaron Baines won an Evening Times' Young Heroes Award earlier this year.

Ian has had a paper round since his 13th birthday, but may have to give it a break at some point this year, as he has six Highers to sit in 2009.
