Pupils Compete for Prizes in Convivial Biggars Music Competition

Music Competition 001Although several pupils walked away with prizes from the Annual Music Competition on 28 October, everyone was a winner in this popular event at Hutchesons'. Pupils chat excitedly amongst each other before as the event starts, comparing music and instruments. There were many singers, too, perhaps not surprisingly given that this year's adjudicator was Susan Hamilton, artistic director of the famed Dunedin Consort and a fine soprano. It's clearly a difficult task, having to choose between a pianist playing Clementi and a soprano singing a folk song, and Hamilton was keen to stress the high quality of all the participants, who had reached the finals following a series of heats earlier in the term.
