S1 Pupils at Hutchesons' rose to the occasion of the Burns anniversary in style, organising a Burns Supper for their parents and staff in aid of School charity CHAS. The pupils of two S1 form groups hosted 130 guests on 22 January in the School Dining Room.
"It was very much a team effort", said organiser Pauline Smith, a Maths teacher and S1 form tutor, "between the pupils, myself and Graham Dunlop".
Dunlop, a former Hockey Olympian, is also an S1 form tutor. Pupils set the tables, wrote out place cards, prepared menus, made shortbread, organised the raffle and served and cleared the three-course meal.
Pupils also chaired the Supper, delivered the Immortal Memory, toasted the Lassies and replied and provided the musical accompaniment.
Not only a successful social evening for the parents, Bite-Size Burns raised almost £800 for CHAS, the Hutchesons' charity for 2008-2009.
