The Spirit of Burns at Hutchesons'

P1 Burns

The junior ceilidh band was busy in January as primary pupils celebrated the spirit of Robert Burns. Primary 1 pupils had their very own ceilidh. "We sang three Burns songs, recited poems and did a partner dance and a highland fling," said P1 teacher Caroline Ross. Primary 4 pupil Orla O'Reilly and the junior ceilidh provided the entertainment.

Primary 4 pupils had a grand old time: Watch the Dancing!

We liked it when Ben and Catherine performed the ‘Address to a Haggis'. At the end, all of P4 got into a big circle and sang ‘Auld Land Syne'. We held hands and then crossed them over before we all went into the middle of the circle. It was nearly a calamity!

We heard people reciting poems and playing musical instruments. We also did two dances called the ‘Virginia Reel' and the ‘Dancing Dodgems'. We liked the ‘Dancing Dodgems' the most.
