The Primary 2 classes have been doing a project on what life was like when Granny was a wee girl, so they took a trip to the Transport Museum to meet with Granny Lollypop. She told them all about Flower Power, then about her ‘scraps’ that she used to collect and swap. Then she took the children round the museum showing them the old pram she was pushed around in. She had her old school bag with her and pulled out treasures like her skipping rope, her Janet and John story book and her Chinese ropes. Some of the children got to have a go singing the ‘Ingle Angle, silver bangle’ rhyme as others jumped the elastics. When the children were all given tickets to see the launch of the QE2, there was big excitement!
They donned cloth caps and head scarves and watched the Queen as she smashed a bottle of champagne on the huge ocean liner. They ended their day by sitting inside the Underground carriage that Granny Lollypop used to use when she went to school.
