Going for Gold Campaign is well out of the Starting Blocks!

Eddi Reader at Going for GoldThe diggers moved in just days after former pupils and friends of Hutchesons' raised £30,000 at the Going for Gold Ball on 28 March. The Hilton was overflowing with good spirits as Eddi Reader and the Marcus Pope Orchestra entertained guests and Carol Smillie and Bill McFarlan, both former pupils themselves, used their wit to entice generous donations to the auction and mass participation in the prize draw. The 7/8ths Jazz Band - all current pupils - dazzled guests during the reception, as did a film featuring the antics of pupils enjoying sport at Hutchesons' 50 years ago.

Going for Gold BallTwo Hutchesons' athletes who know how to go for gold lent their support to the campaign at the Ball: Alix Stevenson nee Jamieson broke many sprint and long jump records, and competed in the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Hamish Robertson (left, with his wife Shirley Robertson) represented Scotland in the 1970 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh and his Scottish Schools Triple Jump record, set in 1965, still stands, but the new track might finally encourage a pupil to break it!

Thank you to to the following for their generous support:
