How often do you think about Global Issues? Ever wanted your ideas heard?
Rachel Donnachie [S4] reports.
On 29 April, 12 pupils and two teachers set off for London, heading to the J8 competition finals to present and discuss issues we felt passionately about.
Our morning consisted of a five-minute presentation from each team. Once the order was drawn, the Hutchie S3 team had to start the presentation with the S4 teams following shortly after.

After mingling with the other groups and some lunch the afternoon sessions began, starting with 'Meet the Experts' during which each team was paired with another and we were given the fantastic opportunity to meet experts on a variety of topics from climate-change to HIV/Aids.
A decision-making exercise followed in which team from London, Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow all worked together to decide on issues we felt most important
Unfortunately, the best team on the day wasn't us, but a team called "One from Many" from London. After certificates and photos, the three Hutchie teams headed back to London Euston to begin the long journey home.
