Two pupils and a member of staff recently returned from a school in Uganda, where they installed computers donated by Hutchesons'.
Annie Hall, IC User Services Manager, along with Sehyr Zahoor and Karen McQuarrie, who completed S6 at Hutchesons' in June this year, travelled to Jinja in the Eastern Region of Uganda and spent a week in the PMM Girls School ensuring that the computers sent by Hutchesons' were connected, and also dealing with general ICT problems in the school.
The project was the result of a colloboration between Hutchesons' and the Pollokshields-based Youth Counselling Services Agency, led by Anwari Din, which paid the shipping charges.
The Rev Paul Jupp, from Pollokshields UR Church based at The Fotheringay Center at Hutchesons' set up the initial contact with the school in Uganda.
The three computer whiz kids also visited other schools in the region to assist with computing-related issues.
