More than 150 Hutchesons' Pupils on Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expeditions

Silver B Kayak at Loch Laggan, September 2009The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expedition training season is in full swing and pupils have survived their first camping experience in the wild, not to mention the dreaded Scottish midge. Expeditions have been by bike, sea-kayak, open canoe, foot and sailing.

Silver B Kayak at Loch Laggan, September 2009Sea-kayaking is particularly popular this session, with five groups choosing this option, now possible since Hutchesons' purchased a fleet of seven new (red!) sea-kayaks. Colin Macleod, ICT teacher who joined the Silver B kayakers on Loch Laggan in September, said how good it was to see the pupils quickly pick up new paddling techniques "and even cope with Force 4 winds on their first weekend!"
