Hutchesons' to support the Teenage Cancer Trust

Charity Launch 2009-2010Pupils and staff on the Hutchesons' Charity Committee have announced that the Teenage Cancer Trust will be the school's designated charity for the 2009-2010 session.

The committee was joined by Carol Anne McMahon, the regional fundraising manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland, at a special assembly which introduce the charity to pupils throughout the school.

Primary Charity LaunchPrimary pupils had their own presentation, from local fundraiser Louise Stirton, who met Jenny and Neil Anderson, the first Hutchesons' donors. They raised £100 for the Teenage Cancer Trust from a sponsored fun run.

Charitable fundraising is an integral and popular part of life at Hutchesons', according to Rector Dr Ken Greig. Each year pupils and staff nominate a single charity to benefit from the proceeds of its fundraising activities and pupils and staff are encouraged to devise different events throughout the year. "The pupils chose this very important project themselves", he said, "and they will really rise to the challenge of helping the Teenage Cancer Trust."
