Scottish Opera visited Hutchesons' Grammar School in October and led a day's workshop and performance for Primary 6 pupils on the theme of the French Revolution.
Revolution!, with music by Alan Penmand lyrics by Allan Dunn, tells the story of the dramatic events leading up to the overthrow of the French monarchy in 1789.
Pupils learned the songs in the weeks beforehand, says primary music teacher Caroline Stevenson, and were able to dress the part, act, sing and even fight in English and in French.
"C'est la guerre!" and "Haut l'epee!" rang out in Kingarth Street Hall as the three groups - the Army, Nobility and Peasants and Bourgeoisie all joined together at the end with "Vive la France mes amis!"
