Primary Word of the Week: singen, chanter, cantare, cantar

The 'word of the week' was evident at a special November assembly at which Superbär hosted a Eurovision Song Contest.

There were entries from France ("Alouette"),  Germany ("Ich bin ein Gummibär"), Spain ("La Taza") and from Scotland ("We will rock you" played on the bagpipes by Paul Lizzeri [S6] and accompanied by Superbär and Miss Gibson with her Glaswegian/ Scottish dialect).

EurovisionIrene Davis, the Modern Languages Coordinator at Kingarth Street, Says: "Our talented language assistants - Annelise, Sylvain, Anna and Daniel - each sang for their countries and tried to persuade the pupils why they should give them their "points". 

The Scottish team managed to win the audience over, however, and "Scotland" won the competition. 

EurovisionS6 pupils Adam Gerber and Ben Holloway accompanied the singers on piano and guitar. "The atmosphere was electric!", says Mrs Davis.
