Hutchesons' Grammar School has recently received funding by the EU to support a two-year Comenius Partnership. The Comenius programme is a Europe-wide initiative to encourage schools to share ideas and develop an awareness of the diversity of European culture and society.
Colleagues from Hans Sachs Gymnasium, Nurnberg and The I Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace, Radomsko, Poland met with staff from Hutchesons' Grammar to discuss their project based on urban design and creativity. Taking the motto 'Think Global, Act Local,' colleagues and pupils from partner schools will work collaboratively to record and interpret examples of urban restoration and renewal.
The Hidden Gardens at The Tramway was an appropriate meeting point for discussions as well as an opportunity for our guests to experience an outdoor community space which has been created within our neighbourhood.
e-twinning will form an integral part of the partnership. Using web technology, pupils and staff will be able to engage in discussions and document their experiences using the 'twinspace.' All three schools were recently awarded a National Quality Label which recognises the high level of e-twinning activities which have already taken place.
