News from Primary 2

P2 FireworksPrimary 2 pupils donned safety goggles while they visited Mr Ferguson's Chemistry lab at the Secondary School, to find out what makes fireworks go 'bang'! They also learned why they smell, which chemicals are used to make the different colours and how sparklers are made. Perhaps most important, they learned about firework safety just a few days before Bonfire Night.

Dr Frew's Visit to P2

Dr Frew, a Primary 2 parent, talked to pupils about their senses. With the help of some volunteers he demonstrated how our senses are connected to our brains. By switching off the lights he helped us to understand how messages are transmitted to our brains through 'cables' called nerves.

EcoSchools Garden at KSIn other Primary 2 news, pupils opened a new Eco-School Garden at the front of the primary school on Kingarth Street. Depute Rector Lorna McKie officially 'opened' the garden!
