This year's Hutchesonian Photography Competition saw entries from a broad range of pupils across the year groups. The standard of the photographs entered was very high and the judges, Mrs Breckenridge (Head of Art) and Mrs Hamilton (Photography Club), had a challenging task to select the winners for each category.
Ultimately they looked for photographs that captured a moment and embraced the principles of photographic composition to create arresting and memorable images. Ailysh's landscape was both well composed and caught the mood of last winter perfectly; Greg's abstract image of a window frame was beautifully textured and contained subtle gradations of colour; Sarah's pink and yellow flower was both graphically interesting and perfectly focused to create a bold and colourful image that stood out from a crowd of excellent nature pictures.
Both judges have high hopes for the future of photography at the school as pupils are really improving their work with practice and new recruits to Photography Club are showing great potential.
