Two former pupils of Hutchesons' gained seats as new MPs in the General Election of Thursday 6 May.
Iain Stewart (C1990) has been elected Conservative MP for Milton Keynes South with a majority of more than 5,000 over the Labour incumbent. He was formerly Director of the Parliamentary Resources Unit in the House of Commons.
Anas Sarwar (C2001) has been elected Labour MP for Glasgow Central with a majority of 10,500, succeeding his father Mohammed Sarwar, who was elected as the first British Muslim MP in 1997.

John Mason (C1975) lost the Glasgow East seat he won for the SNP last summer and Adrian Cruden (C1981) stood as a Green Party candidate for Dewsbury in a seat narrowly taken by the Conservatives. Adrian came sixth out of seven candidates.
