The Senior Girls Tennis Team won the Scottish Schools Tennis Championship at St George's School, Edinburgh, on 16 June, an honour last achieved by the Hutchesons' team in 1976, when the team included Sheila Lang, nee Thompson (C1976), left, now PE teacher in charge of tennis at Hutchesons'!
After beating Bearsden in a nail-biting shoot out in the Quarter-final, the team of Heather Lang [S5], Iona Campbell [S3], Paige Denholm [S3] and Charlotte Mason [P7] qualified for Finals day at St George's School. They went on to win the Semi-final 6-0 against Mary Erskine's School. In the final, they met a strong Nairn Academy team, but eventually won 4-2 and received the Park School Trophy.
After four consecutive years of reaching the final stages, it was a popular and well-deserved win for the girls who were understandably delighted.
The Scottish Schools Championships is an annual knock-out tournament for boys and girls. The competition is one of the oldest schools tournaments in Great Britain.
