This session has seen a very large intake of new players both in Primary and Secondary. The considerable talent of many of these juniors bodes well for Scottish Bridge and it's only a matter of time before we see their names listed as playing for their country!
It is with great regret that we are losing Ronald Gaffin (C2002) as our Bridge Coach. He has been a fantastic role-model and teacher and leaves a legacy of imparting great enthusiasm and sound technical knowledge of the game. We would like to register our deep appreciation and wish him well. We hope he will find time next session to come in on occasions as a most welcome guest !
The mini-bridge club finished on Tuesday 8 June with the pairs event won by Calum Townsley [P6] and Robin Tobias [P7]. The Ross Harper Trophy is seen here being presented by Angus Townsley [S1], Calum's older brother who won the trophy last year. Professor Ross Harper (C1953), a member of the England Senior team who won the 39th World Team Championships in Sao Paolo last year, generously supports Mini-bridge at Hutchesons'.
The senior bridge club finished on Friday 11 June with the pairs event being won by brothers Calum Stout [S2] and Matthew Stout [S4]. They are an outstandingly talented pair who surely will be figuring soon in the under 19 Scottish Squad along with several others.
Bridge at Huchesons' finished for this current session with the annual fun match between staff and pupils. This year, for the first time, the pupils won! It was particularly special to have two former pupils, both junior internationalists, playing: Andrew Sinclair (C2002) and Stuart Bradnam (C2009).
